Anglo Zulu Battlefields Tour
The Anglo-Zulu Battlefields MTB Tour
Join us for a 4-day and 3-night MTB tour as we take you to the heart of the Anglo-Zulu wars in rural Zululand.
The Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 is famous throughout the English-speaking world for the great battles of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift.
The spectacular Fugitives’ Drift property, a 5000 acre Natural Heritage Site, overlooks both Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift, and includes the site where Lieutenants Melvill and Coghill lost their lives attempting to save the Queen’s Colour of their regiment.
This will form part of your first sundowner ride on Day-1.
Take part in Fugitives’ Drift’s awe-inspiring battlefield tours, which bring the battles of Rorke’s Drift and Isandlwana to life, leaving one with a deep and tangible insight into some of the most moving of South Africa’s battlefields.
The beauty of this tour are the vistas, the history, and the sheer vastness of the area.
And it’s a history lesson of note. Where else do you get to ride, have a rest, and whilst refreshing yourself, have one of the World-Renowned guides give you a talk about what happened in the area and where you are actually sitting in 1879?
Five star accommodation, world-class battlefield tours, abundant game and birdlife, superb food and wine, and breathtaking views out over Zululand and the battlefields make for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Day 2 will see riders head to the old Oxwagon Trails, but not before a rather challenging dirt road climb.
It’s then on to Rorkes Drift, and here you will learn about the Battle of Rorkes Drift.
After that it’s off to the Rorkes Drift Hotel for a light lunch before heading off to Isandlwana, your home for the next two nights.
Day-3 will be a ride to the stunning Mangeni Falls, and once again, you will learn about the history of the region before heading back for a final tour of the Isandlwana Battlefield.
