“The Grind”: Gravel Heaven or Hell Awaits!

Get ready to tackle “The Grind” – 150km of gravel grit (or 75km if you’re feeling a bit more mellow) on February 8, 2025! 

Whether you’re packing a gravel bike or an MTB, just make sure you’re packing yourself to the start line.

Kicking off from Stone Park in Maropeng, in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind, this epic out-and-back route will send you deep into the hidden corners of the Magalies. Expect to pass near the iconic Mount Grace and roll through spots you’ve probably never heard of—Maanhaarrand, Vlakfontein, and Koesterfontein are just a few on the route!

Can You Tame 150km in Under 10 Hours? Well, that’s up to you and the 1606m of climbing you’ll face! But we’ve got you covered with four well-stocked water tables along the way. Tackling the 75km route? You’ll find a refreshment station at the halfway mark.

We’re excited to introduce a new perk! At the start, you can leave a bottle or a small cooler box (six-pack size only, no large ones) with us, containing your personal refreshments, a change of socks, or other essentials.

Please note that it must be clearly marked with your name, race number and contact number please. Tags will be provided at the start.

We’ll transport it to Water Point 3, located at the 87km mark, where you can access its contents. Afterward, we’ll return it to the finish for you to collect.
