The Grind - 155km, 70km, or 45km of Gravel/ MTB Heaven or Hell?

Whether you’re a gravel grinder looking for your next big challenge or a trail runner ready to hit the dirt, there’s something for everyone.

Cyclists: Take on the 155km, 70km or 45km routes, each offering its own mix of challenging terrain, spectacular scenery and proper Magaliesburg gravel riding.

Trail Runners & Walkers: Prefer two feet over two wheels? Join us for a 5km, 10km or 15km trail adventure through the beautiful Magaliesburg countryside. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply enjoying the outdoors, there’s a distance for everyone!

E-bike riders are welcome too! Separate E-bike categories are available across all three cycling distances, with the 45km E-bike category available to Open riders only.

From serious competition to a fun morning outdoors, The Grind promises a fantastic day of riding, running and enjoying everything the Magaliesburg has to offer.

• Normal Entry: 1 January – 31 January 2027

• Late Entry: 1 February – 2 February 2027

Late-entry fees will also apply to entries taken at the event, subject to availability.

E-bikes are not permitted in the 45km U19 category.

SPECIAL BONUS FOR THE 155KM RIDERS – Special Collection Point – 53 & 135km mark – same location

At the start, you can leave a small cooler box (six-pack size only, no large one’s) with us, containing your personal refreshments, a change of socks, or other essentials.

Please note that it must be clearly marked with your name, race and contact number. Tags will be provided at the start.

We’ll transport it to Water Point 2 & 6 (Same location), located at the 53 & 135km mark, where you can access its contents. Afterward, we’ll return it to the finish for you to collect.

This added service is designed to make your ride even more enjoyable because every little comfort counts over 155km!

Trail running entry fees remain the same throughout the entry period.

Start Times

The start and finish venue is Valley Lodge & Spa in Magaliesburg.

Food and drinks will be on sale, and shower facilities will be available.

Cycling (Gravel / MTB)

• 06:30 – 155km riders

• 07:00 – 70km riders

• 07:15 – 45km riders

Trail Run / Walk

• 07:30 – 15km runners

• 07:45 – 10km & 5km runners / walkers

Important Start Instructions

• Please ensure you are in your allocated chute at least 10 minutes before your start for the rider briefing.

• If you miss the briefing, any announcements or changes made will not be repeated.

• Arrive on time and be mindful of the start times of other participants.

• Marshals may stop runners or walkers to allow cyclists to pass. Cyclists have right of way and must be given priority before you are permitted to proceed.

• Late Starts: If you arrive more than 15 minutes after your allocated start time, you will not be permitted to start. By this stage, marshals will have left their posts and moved to new positions. Allowing a late start would result in you riding unsupported, which we cannot permit.

What Is the Stellantis Adventure Series?

Launched in 2026, the Stellantis Adventure Series brings together some of Gauteng’s premier gravel and endurance events under one banner.

The Grind kicks off the 2027 Stellantis Adventure Series as Leg 1, bringing riders together for the first challenge of the new season.

Through its partnership with The Leverage Corporation, Stellantis continues to support gravel and endurance racing, helping bring exciting events and competitive opportunities to riders across the region.

With R400,000 in prize money up for grabs across the series, including R40,000 at The Grind, there’s plenty to ride for!

Riders can earn valuable series points as they compete across the events, working towards the overall Stellantis Adventure Series standings.
